  • I haven’t been able to put much time into the podcast over the past six months or so due to increased demands on my time at work and the needs of my family. However, I’m still going to keep producing episodes, just at a slower pace. As a result, I’ve reduced the cost for subscriptions on Patreon down to $1/month. That still gives the same benefits as previously - access to all bonus episodes and a vote on upcoming topics.

  • The next episode, The Navy’s Finest Hour: The Battle off Samar, is currently in production. I finished recording the episode a number of months ago, but haven’t found the time to finish editing it and publish it yet. I don’t have an ETA but it will be produced at some point in the coming weeks and months.

  • At work, I’ve been working on a history project covering US amphibious operations in the Pacific during World War II and some of the lessons learned from them. A version of this project will be published as a bonus episode with the series on the Battle off Samar.

  • The fifth and final episode of the Korean War is posted! The Korean War Part 5: The Contest of Wills covers the final two and a half years of the Korean War as the UN forces rallied and stopped the Chinese, the front stabilized along the 38th Parallel, and two years worth of peace talks before the armistice is finally signed. In particular, this episode highlights the influence of General Matthew B. Ridgway in restoring the fighting spirit of the US 8th Army and the bloody hill battles along the 38th Parallel that resembled World War I static warfare. Furthermore, the growing political concerns during the conflict bring about great frustration at the front lines and the shocking POW riots at Koje Island.

  • The fourth episode of the Korean War is posted! The Korean War Part 4: The Frozen Chosin covers the Chinese counterattack that hit the US 1st Marine Division and elements of the 7th Infantry Division around the Chosin Reservoir. These forces, supplied on a single, winding road through the mountains of Korea, were cut off and surrounded by nine Chinese divisions. In the face of subzero temperatures, relentless Chinese attacks, and unable to receive ground resupply, survival will require the utmost courage, determination, and valor from the Marines and soldiers at the Chosin Reservoir.
